La BiciCocina is starting up their Basic Wrenching Workshop next month. It’s a great class to take, so don’t miss out!
We will be offering another BASIC WRENCHING workshop at the Los Angeles
Bicycle Kitchen / La BiciCocina: Sunday, April 7th, 9:30am-11:30am.
MORNING BASICS with Cook Derek Boonstra will cover: changing & patching a
flat, brake adjustment, basic maintenance, bicycle anatomy, how to use a
bike repair stand and derailleur basics.
6 spots are available! Suggested donation $30. If $30 is a little steep,
please still come and donate what you can! We’re psyched that you want to
learn about bicycles.

The BK had their grand re-opening this past Friday. It was a blast and I’m so happy that they now have a permanent home. The new spot is huge and has tons of space and a giant front gated parking lot. I hope this means tons of events and community outreach going on, but for now enjoy these photos of the new location and go check it out for yourself!
So stoked for the Kitchen and it’s new digs. I’ll be heading over there shortly to document the new spot and you can peep it anytime or come to the grand opening this Friday!!!

The Kitchen is needing donations to help acquire their new permanent home. Which means it’s time for a benefit square dance! The Amazing Triple Chicken Foot will be playing and you should be there… Support your supporters!!!
Hello Bicycle Kitchen Friends and Family!
Square is how we roll, how ’bout you?
On Saturday, April 28th from 9pm-12pm, come on down to Frogtown to dance with us!
Our dear friends Triple Chicken Foot, along with The Stoney Point Sword Swallowers, will be providing the tunes, and the dances will be called by the one and only Susan Michaels.
All the fun is going to be happening at Nomad Studios, a real gem of a space, located at 1993 Blake Avenue, LA, CA 90039.
There will be a requested donation of $10 at the door, and all the dough will go towards the Bicycle Kitchen’s purchase of their very own building!
For those who come by bicycle, there will be complementary bike valet provided by LACBC.
Visit bicyclekitchen.com for more information about all of our fundraising shenanigans.
Please share this with all your buddies. The more folks we have to dance with, the merrier!

A PERMANENT home for the Bicycle Kitchen! That is so awesome, but for that to happen the kitchen needs donations to help fund the down payment on the new home. That is where you come in. Donate and help spread the word. I cannot express how stoked I am for this to be happening. The Kitchen has been such a huge part of my family’s life and some of the reasons why I moved to LA. Super pumped for the Kitchen to grow into the next phase of its existance, and you can be apart of that!
We are the bicycle kitchen! We’re a nonprofit community organization in East Hollywood and we provide a welcoming space to learn about building, maintaining, and riding bicycles. Our mission is to promote the bicycle as a fun and accessible form of transportation for all Angelenos.
We love bikes and we think that a city filled with bikes is a good thing for lots of reasons. For 9 years our volunteer mechanics have been teaching you, the people of Los Angeles, how to fix or build your own bicycle at little or no cost. Our impact on Los Angeles is visible at nearly any intersection. We have been doing all of this from a rented space and we are vulnerable to the perils of renting.
The time is right to purchase a PERMANENT HOME for the Bicycle Kitchen / BiciCocina. We have found the perfect space, a former bakery at the intersection of Fountain and Virgil. It will give us room to grow and ensure our longevity as an organization. With a permanent space we will have greater flexibility to fulfill our mission in our own unique ways and with greater stability.
We’ve been working hard on raising funds through events and we have received a $100K grant towards the down payment from Metabolic Studio, a direct charitable activity of the Annenberg Foundation. We’re down to the wire and we need a final push to get where we want to be.
Our goal is to raise $30,000. Donate now! Any amount helps. Your donation will help keep us wrenching into the future!
