Here is the route map for the crit course this Friday. It’s a little over a mile long, a clockwise course, starting from Beverly Blvd/ Belmont Ave and it has one descent and one ascent (both with tight turns leading into them). I highly recommend you get out there this week and have a go at it. Find your line and you’ll be fine. Registration is at 8 pm, meet me at the corner of Beverly and Belmont Road group goes first at 9pm. The track group is brakeless only and if there is a rather large track field (which there probably will be), then I will separate into two heats with the top five from each heat, going head to head for the fixie money. $5 dollars race, see ya’ll Friday night.

Winter Series 2012: Race #3: Results

The Sprints are in the bag… Twenty guys came out, to go head to head in Elysian park last night. The first round consisted of drawing names out of hat and about a 200 meter sprint. That knocked it down to ten, who then went on to next round which was an up hill sprint at about 250 meters on steady but not hard incline, a gradual climb, really. Knocked down to five, our friend and state champ Tony Z stepped in to round out the numbers to six (just back from a broken collar-bone, amazeballs).

Winter Series 2012 #2: Re-Cap

Sorry this has taken so long. I went to Vegas for the last week and got really sick the last day and almost three days later I am finally feeling better. Lots to talk about! First the re-cap of the crit. Holy shit, what a gnarly race. 40 racers again, 6 roadies and 34 Track bikes. The top winners crushed it, mostly Hern, Jon B and Fabian. Those three were in the lead the whole 13 laps (1.5 miles per lap), Jon even dropped his chain twice and still beasted it back to win over all and take home $30 dollars! Hern killed it on his Track bike and I haven’t seen him race that good in a bit. Looks like he is getting ready for Red Bull Ride ‘n’ Style, he took home $160 dollars! Fabian rounded out the top three (2nd Roadie), Alain (3rd road), Bud (LDG, 2nd Track) and Henry (3rd Track).
Winter Series 2012: Race #2

Tonight’s race is a Crit. This is the course. If I wear you I would get out there today and learn it or show early and run it a few times. My man Robert came with a great course. It has climbs, descents, hairpins, a tunnel, some curb jumping, just about everything you would want in a race and it’s only a one and half miles! Depending on how many racers show up, there might be heats leading into a Final group. This goes for both the road and fixed categories. As always, it’s $5 bucks to race, winner take all, plus bragging rights/ street cred. Top three finishers from each group in the final will get a bonus starting time in the final alleycat of the series. See ya’ll tonight!
